The Icon I6 Plush mattress is a high performance luxury 4-layered static foam mattress with firm hinged strengthened sides, suited to clients with a medium risk of pressure injury.
The Icon I6 mattress offers a luxurious, plush/soft feel without compromising on support necessary for repositioning. This is achieved through the unique selection of Airoform Memory and Response foam technology. The Icon I6 is most popular within the Homecare and aged care setting, and is available in 15, 20 and 25cm thicknesses, often used together with the Luxury breathable homecare style cover.

PLUSH WITHOUT COMPROMISING ON SUPPORT
Pressure care or pressure redistribution on a static foam mattress is achieved using soft immersion/envelopment foams which allow the individual to sink into the mattress and for the surface to confirm around any protruding bony prominences thus reducing any high tension points.
However, A contraindication of immersion or soft foams is that it can impede on the ability of the individual to reposition. Especially for those at risk of a pressure injury or with limited mobility, it is important that the mattress carefully balances the amount of immersion achieved with the ability of the individual to be able to reposition effectively.
The Icon I6 Plush mattress has been designed with a particular combination of foams which offer a plush comfort without compromising on support, or the ability to easily reposition. The immersion foams used on the Icon I6 Plush offer a distinctive sensation that can’t be refused – it is sometimes likened to a standard domestic innerspring mattress.
The luxury plush comfort characteristic of the Icon I6 mattress makes it a favourite for care in the home or premium aged care facilities. The Icon I6 Plush is commonly purchased in 20cm or 25cm thicknesses and swapped out for a quilted homecare cover too.

MEDICAL FOAM TECHNOLGY
Foams used by Forté in the Icon I34 mattress are specifically formulated for use within high humidity applications, typical within Hospital applications where the mattress has low rest periods and is fitted with Moisture Vapour Permeable Covers. ‘Humidity’ treatment ensures that the structural integrity of the foams remains within conditions that would otherwise have a significant degrading effect on foam performance. It also ensures postural support is maintained for comfort and prevents excessive pressure forces because of foam collapse. It is crucial to pressure injury prevention that the foam maintains its support to prevent a ‘bottoming out’ effect and ensure immersion and envelopment.
Foams are also treated with Eversheild Anti-Microbial protection to prevent the growth of mould and bacteria. Maintaining healthy conditions within the foams reduces risk of infection control, cross patient contamination and mould.

WHAT DOES MEDIUM RISK MEAN?
‘Risk’ relates to the likelihood of developing a pressure injury. You can determine the risk of your client but conducting a risk assessment – using a risk assessment tool such as the Waterlow along with qualified clinical judgment and knowledge of the client’s history and underlying condition.
On the Waterlow Risk Assessment Tool, typically clients who score up to 15 are suitable for one of the mattresses within the Medium Care Medical Mattress range.
